A day in November that never came so sweet!

Last November 27, 2011 in Miriam College , was a sweet reunion of old friends and new friends alike. It was the day CFC West C celebrated its 25th anniversary. Everyone was beaming with pride and delight with smiles so sweet and warm as the sunshine infecting everyone with the festive mood and atmosphere.

Booths of different sorties lined up at the back portion of the venue where you would be smacked with a kiss of surprise, thereafter paying for it at P5.00 per lip mark stamped in your face! That is if you’re lucky enough or vigilant not to let another kiss mark land on the other cheek! That is another P5.00! Wheww!! It was the pakulo of the KFC Coordinators (Kids For Christ). But it was lots of fun, though.

As early as 6AM, the venue was already starting to be filled with attendees. Starting to arrive were of course the production team who are mostly compose of young leaders from the SFC and YFC. None of the usual CFC leaders who always manned the production and the program. This time the great mentors opted to play behind the scene and gave way to the new and arising talents of the young generation. None of the usual long talks and long introduction but bits and brief of spiels coming from the vibrant voice over of the production team. The day marked just another day of pure fun, laughter, celebration devoid of too much pleasantries that is more of a discomfort rather than a relaxed and at-home feeling. It was an all hair-down affair yet within the bounds of the way of life learned in CFC.

The anniversary was kicked off with the offering of the holy sacrifice of the mass at 8 am. Indeed, a very fitting tribute to the lord our God for blessing our community with the span of 25 years since its fruition in 1986. Thereafter, the praise and worship immediately followed as led by Mon Carpio, one of the pioneers of CFC West C.

In the company of current West C Sector leaders Steve and Minnie Maningat are old faces now with FFL who spared a moment to grace the occasion. They were Felix & Vicky Zano, Frank & Myrna Puruganan, Ed & Brenda Viola, Boy & Edna Alvarez, Lito Gabriel, Mar Soriano, Shirley Florentino & Edna Dela Cruz. They were seen exchanging pleasantries with CFC Executive Director Melo & Nini Villaroman who came in to grace the celebration. Also present were former West C leaders Oscar & Tess Tagulinao, Gandi Carpio and Delfy Geraldez.

The usual and traditional showcase of talent the CFC way culminated the event. First to parade their wares was the praise and fashion. It was a fashion parade of sort show casing the story and evolution of CFC in West C. You will never miss a thing seeing the Handmaids Of the Lords walking hand-in-hand with sisters and daughters in their safari outfits. Others who paraded with much glamour and smart sophistication were the YFC’s in their varied outfits very fitting to a young, spirited and carefree attitude of these youthful genre! The families who paraded with all their members of the family was a sure hit. A true testament to our CFC way of life as in everyone in the family is a member of CFC and its ministries. A truly sight to behold seeing young kids parading with their parents up there in the stage is quite an assurance there’ll be someone who’s got to inherit or continue what we, the parents have strived to work for -- to be always in the service of the Lord.

Compose of six clusters, CFC West C will never let the celebration pass without the usual talent portion and competition among the six clusters. Each of the six presentations were themed as Legacy Weekend, Braveheart Weekend, Shepherd’s Weekend, Unity Weekend, Ecstacy Weekend and Discovery Weekend. Expectedly, everyone was so agog with excitement to display each theme assigned to them but nonetheless it was also a mixed mood of anxiety and fun, panicky and tensed feeling among the participants. Who would not!! Most of the presentations were first & last practice done with full costume on stage! Meaning, as if they were just dress rehearsing but with actual audience already!! In the end, the presentations were mostly exhibited out of pure fun rather that the real good thing competition. It was lots of fun, indeed. It was an occasion again that made all the members glued to one another. Truly occasions as this are perfect avenue to rekindle and renew relationships, friendships and brotherhood. A sweet surrender under the watchful eye of our loving God.

At lunch time, food abounds. Go around and you will get your fill. Everyone has brought something to share with and everyone has got something to offer. Fiesta. Truly Pinoy. Truly CFC. Each one was not only filled to the tummy but certainly up to the core of their hearts where you can really feel the hands of God working all throughout the event. So touching to see a brother whom you have not seen and talked to in a long while and find him sharing food with us while catching up with lots of updates here and there. So moving, it gives jitter to the core and sends smile to our hearts as it waters our eyes with tears of joy.

Immediately after lunch was the announcement of the ANCOP raffle winners. Oh, what a delight to see brothers and sisters holding on to their tickets hoping against hope for their names to be called. There was never a dull moment because everyone was in their element and so glued to the occasion. The day was a success. Actually, the numbers tell it all. It was a huge crowd. A big success indeed!

Last but not least was the announcement by West C Sector Head Bro Steve Maningat about the movement for CFC West C in 2012. The re-organization. As it came early this year, it was nonetheless expected with excitement as it was likewise accepted hopefully and faithfully by all. The sector leader ably announced what God has decided for us in West C. Hence, next year, 2012 will be the 1st year of another 25 more years. What a sweet way for our Lord to lead us to another years of union and romance with Him through CFC. Thanks be to God. Thanks be to you.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, WEST C!!
